The consensus on these guys is they need the following in order to have a chance to thrive in an aquarium:
High flow
High light
Good water quality
Healthy speciman to start
If all of these criteria are they still prone to not make it long term?
I was thinking about attempting to keep one in my 600g tank with the following parameters:
(3) 400 watt 14,000k Aqua connect metal halides
800 watts of T-5 lighting
3 Tunze Waveboxes
2 6100 Tunze streams
4 1" penductors fed by a Sequence Barracuda
Suffice it to say I think I have plenty of waterflow and lighting. My my water params are good enough to keep SPS healthy.
I am planning on building a pylon of rock isolated from the rest of the rock.
