The consensus on these guys is they need the following in order to have a chance to thrive in an aquarium:

High flow
High light
Good water quality
Healthy speciman to start

If all of these criteria are they still prone to not make it long term?

I was thinking about attempting to keep one in my 600g tank with the following parameters:

(3) 400 watt 14,000k Aqua connect metal halides
800 watts of T-5 lighting
3 Tunze Waveboxes
2 6100 Tunze streams
4 1" penductors fed by a Sequence Barracuda

Suffice it to say I think I have plenty of waterflow and lighting. My my water params are good enough to keep SPS healthy.
I am planning on building a pylon of rock isolated from the rest of the rock.

I would put the order of importance this way...

Healthy speciman to start
High flow
High light
Good water quality

As far as long term viability if all of the above criteria are met... they do tend to do fine like other anemones. I've had mine for a year and almost 4 months, which is not long term. Another local reefer has had his for over 10 years. Its the size of a manhole cover...really.
Rod Buehler from Rodsreef has kept his for almost 3 years. There are several people here who have kept them for several years, so longevity isnt the issue. IMO, the biggest hurdle is finding a healthy one, and getting it acclimated. After that its just maintaining them IME.

Tank mates are a big thing to keep in mind too. Big angels that may nip on them, butterfly fish that will nip on them....not good candidates...

Thanks Maxx.

I was keeping a couple of angels but they have since been removed.
Is it difficult to find some of the more desirable color morphs like purple base/green tentacle or purple tentacle's?
I have only seen a couple locally and they were all beige tentacle variety.

It is difficult to find those desirable color morphs so it may take a while before you ever do find one. As for your setup I think you got a very desirable habitat for a H. Magnifica. What type of clownfish do you have or plan on getting?

Like everything else in this hobby, patience is the key. If its not healthy, dont buy it.

Latezonatus Clowns.

I disagree with that to some extent. Everyone that I have spoke to that have kept them (juveniles - adults) have seen no ill side effect from keeping them at regular reef tank temps. I have 5 juveniles and my temps range from 78-81 and they are doing great. There has been a pretty decent influx of Juvenile's coming into the US in the last 2 months and they all seem to be icclimating to captive enviroments with great success.

I've never kept them, so I'm just passing on what I've read about them.
Good luck with them.
