H. Magnifica just arrives from reefhotspot.com

The best thing you can do is just let it do its thing. I dont know if you have or have been, but if you interupt its surroundings you will stress it even more. I wouldnt turn power heads off, I wouldnt keep moving it, ect. I would just let it fight on its own.

I just touched it the time to let it in my tank.It never moved.

I am keeping 7 anemones and I never saw one like this. This one is my first Magnifica

I just recently got a GBTA from Reefcentral and it's doing great. I have never had a H. Magnifica and was thinking about getting one from them but I wait and see what happens, hope it recovers cause they are really nice

Thank you for your support.
I could not take any pictures today.
It is going a little bit better. It is attached, not in full, but a little bit.

I received this e-mail from the supplier:

Thank you for emailing us. We are very sorry to hear of the stressed state of the Ritteri. We can extend out our normal 14 day guarantee for the animal in this circumstance. It is common for Ritteris to stress in shipping and make a full recovery so we would hope that your would give the animal a chance. As long as it is attached, it is alive and has a chance for survival. Please let us know how the animal continues to progress.

Best Regards,

Do you have those 7 other anemones in the same tank as the Mag? And what are they? There could be some chemical warfare going on too.

I have about 7 anemones in my tank also. Granted they are all BTA's 6 green and 1 rose and I have never had any issues. Its a 300 gallon tank if that makes a difference???

BTA is quite different than H. magnifica in term of difficulty. Magnifica is difficult but 1/2 of the battle is getting healthy in the first place.
Is he any better today?

I have 2 smalls LTAs an the new Magnifica in my 150Gal tank. I used to have a Hadonni, but I sold it because it got pretty big.

I have a condy and a small sebae in my 50Gal

I have two RBTA in my 30 Gal

Won't have issues with the same species. I have 2 Haddonis in 2 of my tanks, they have even been touching without issue. Problems can arise with different species (( different color morphs of the same species don't matter ))

You might want to make sure your complaint is valid before going on a public forum and posting negitive things about a purchase and naming the source. As stated it is common practice to ship anemones in that amount of water, granted you possibly recieved a bad anemone, but when you seek assistence and become very defensive regarding questions that is not a good sign.

Well posting things like this isn't always bad. I had never heard of the company before. Based on what I've seen so far, I am going to probably order some things from them.

Definately give it achance to settle in, may take longer then youd expect, I had a Mag i ordered online it didnt fair to well, but i picked up a bleached stressed one here locallly at a LFS, took a very long time for it to come around, it didnt eat for the longest. They do like alot of flow and like to be high under the lights, mine is right uner my 250w halide, and in front of my return plumbing and in front of an MP40 also.

As far as RHS goes, one of the best suppliers of anemones around i think, i have a purple carpet that has been doing great since i got it from them

This is the update of the third day:

The anemone is better attached than yesterday, it squeezed under a rock, I can not see its mouth and the hole and I do not want to touch it. From the second day I put a lot of flow on it and the fact my clowns are hosting it , I think is helping it a little bit.
Definitely it does not look as bad as the first day.

Sorry about the pictures but I did not have time today to take them better.

good luck!

good luck!

I hope the anemone pulls through!

So far Reefhotspot has impressed me with their customer service ( I have never bought from them). But I will consider doing so in the future.

Please keep us updated on the condition of your new addition.

When I wake up today it was disintegrating through the hole to the base. I take it quickly out the aquarium.
Some anemone parts were floating around.
I should take the advice that RHS send me: "We would encourage you to keep a close eye on the animal throughout the day. Since it appears that the anemone is attached, the important thing is to see that the mouth closes over the course of today. If it does not show substantial closure by the end of the day or starts to fall apart or detach itself, then you should take it our of the aquarium"

I will check all my levels, and make a water change.

I feel very sad

These are the pictures:

I am no anemone expert but those pictures don't look as bad as I thought they would. You are sure its dead or on its way out right?

The anemon does not look at in the container. It may be dividing due to stress. It it does not smell bad, I would not remove it from the tank.
