it's the pics....trust me. i had to take these with my laptop so there really bad. and i just moved the powerhead and thats where it's pointed. so thanks!

temp. is 79, ph id 8.3, salinity is 1.025, nitrates are 7. working on getting the nitrates down. i've had it in the tank for about 3 hours. i think it is fully attached now and is fully opened! it looks great!
Oh, only 3 hours, not surprising it hadn't fully attached, but glad it has now. The other parameters look good and it's good you're getting the nitrates down. During the acclimation period, I wouldn't want any nitrates, but I can tell you from experience, H. magnificas that are well established can tolerate fairly high nitrates, at least for brief periods. What measures are you taking to lower the nitrates? Do you have a good protein skimmer? I think a good ps is very helpful at keeping the overall water quality up.

well it's the ps that comes with the tank. so i don't know how good it is. it pulls out a good amount of skimmate though. i am putting more chaeto in the fuge for now to get the nitrates down but tomorrow i will go get a nitrate sponge. any other tips on caring for it?

i use a 6700k. mine hasn't grown much though. my magnifica isn't as opened as much. and it's mouth is bulging a little bit. are these bad signs? or is it acclimating?
At only a few hours after putting it in the tank, I would assume it is just acclimating. I recall back when I got mine it took a little while before it would eat--like 5 or 6 days the best I can remember.
For the chaeto, that is a good light spectrum. Maybe mine grows fast because there is more nutrients in the water, although the nitrates test 0. I know it also absorbs phosphates.

yea i have a phosban reactor. and i am a little worried about the nem but maybe i am just paranoid. it isn't as opened as before.

ok it is getting worse and worse since i turned out the lights.

i didn't have a problem with it until i turned out the light. it was doing great and fully expanded until i turned out the light.

Here's what's interesting, this anemone looks near to identical to the one in that other thread that was determined to be a BTA, exact same colored foot, and tentacles same shape and color...
This anemone was, and is probably one of the healthiest mags that I have ever seen at an LFS. And for $150 I would have bought it except I had spent $65 on a potters wrasse that died about 2 hrs after being in my tank...with PERFECT parameters...thank goodness its not the same store...but that anemone would have been mine!

i checked on my nem this morning while the lights were still off and it isn't deflated or as closed up any more! so i think it was just acclimating. it looks great!
