if your tank description is correct and I can read correctly - you have 2 ehiems 1260s

we are talking about 200 1260s - the ones that only have 1 ehiem 1260

One thing thats funny about these pumps is that when you cut the air intake back, the bodies look MORE full. I can't remember why - I don't know if its because the bubbles get smaller, or because it makes the skimmers work harder (watts go up) and it increases turbulence. Air intake does decrease, I have an air meter. But it definitely "looks" more full with less air. I am currently borrowing a friend's 702 and its the same thing. If you take the valves off - a little less than the top half or so has bubbles. But if you turn the valves down, the skimmer looks more full. It was the same on the 3x1260. On the 2x1260, no matter what you do the body is full. As Reefsalt can probably verify, if you take the air clamps off the 3x1260, the bubbles will actually be up closer to the top. IME, it didn't affect performance, it skimmed crap right outta the tank either way.

Deltecs do have a 45 on some models. It does force the air downward. Far as I can tell it doesn't make it work any better - when you compare the A200 2x1260 to the 702, the H&S is far more dense. But when you look at the pic above and say an 851 - the 851 seems to have more air. It doesn't, it actually has less air I think (I've read most 851 users turn down the air) - it just appears that way.

You can talk to Brian about having a custom A200 1x1260. I've talked to him about it. You can have it cut shorter - I think a couple inches taller than the 701 would work well. HTH.

Hey both my wife and I were ad folks in SF. We were at BBDO & McCann if you know the SF ad scene. Miss that place!

Thanks Fliger. I'll call Finsreef again this weekend. I would really like one of those a200 2x1260's if he can do it custom. I'd like to use a wider/shorter body like the Deltec 702 if they can build it.

I'm not familiar with the SF scene, but I do like it up here. Its a great job IME.

i got mine in sump H&S 200-1260 about 6 weeks ago.
without reducing the airintake with a valve the skimming was very
poor, so i called H&S , cause the manual says , the skimmer would run best , with the airtube full open.
ulli coulndÃ"šÃ‚´t beliéfe that my experience was different, so i took
my pumpe to h&s some days later and we tested it.

so, it seems with low water level in the sump ( short above the pumps body) the skimmer runs better with some reducing the airflow, with higher water level in the sump ( about 20 cm or higher) itÃ"šÃ‚´runs without cutting the airflow.

ulli told me, that he will rework the manual

Here is another tank using an H&S skimmer. Believe it or not its just a standard 3x2001 in-sump skimmer.

Thomas, somewhere in the H&S thread, Brian of Finsreef wrote how the H&S USA Models produce more bubbles when the air is restricted some with the clamp (accelerates the pump). My new 200-1260 is in 10.5'" of water, and I've found that I'm getting more bubble production with no air restriction. This seems to go along with your own experience. I must say this is one efficient skimmer. I've always thought my water was clear, but with this skimmer it's like the fish are floating in air.

Does the A150-F2001 have the "couplings" or plastic mounting things where the pump is attached to the skimmer body? I thought I had seen some pictures at an online store (but I can't remember the name now) where it didnt have those, but both the pics on finsreef and aquarium obsessed has them on there. Thanks.

The A150-F2001 is the external model, so it has the supports. The in sump model does not require the supports since the pump sits on the bottom of the sump.

As always one more H&S skimmer with only half the skimmer full of bubbles, why is that ? is that waist of skimmer space?
I understand you don't need to go to far down but look at it the bubbles only goes to the top collar . they are very nice skimmers but this is the only thing i don't understand about them.

Zoom, I'm fairly certain that's due to a difference in design. If you'll look at photos of both H&S and Deltec skimmers, you'll see that the pump's intake and return are mounted lower on the body with the Deltecs. I've owned models of both, and as far as I can tell; there's virtually no difference in terms of performance. Both are awesome skimmers, but each does it a little differently.

I am not a fluidized engineer, and correct me if Im wrong.
If you have 2 skimmers of the same size each pumping in the same amount of water from the aquarium and air from the EHIEMS,wouldnt the concentration of air be the same?

And if you have a more air saturation like the H&S shown above would you not have a better contact since the protien waste is traped in the upper level moving only one way but to the collection cup?

I have seen Deltecs in action and they swirl the air spreading it out throughout the skimmer body and is not as marshmellow white as the H&S.
