I ordered a A200 2x1260 last week from Piece of Reef last week and should be getting it on Fri. Does anyone have a pic of how they have theirs plumbed from tank overflow? I'm hopeing to hook mine up that way as it seems it would be most efficient way to skim.
Thanks,
Chad

looks like H&S club members are lazy, almost no pictures in this thread :)
lets see those skimmers set up and running

Here's some pictures of my A200-2x1260 Skimmer. I guess the picture will tell you everything about those amazing skimmer :)

I love this picture:

This is a picture taken 24 hours after plumbing it in. No need to say, but the break in was pretty fast!

Here a closer look at the skimmate:

This is a picture of this week, i am having no time to clean it :( Exams are taking all my time... will do after sunday!! :D

clownnrnd: I am having a mag 7 that is feeding the skimmer. There is about 2.5 feet between the skimmer and the mag 7. I find the mag 7 a bit to strong and would have considered a mag 5 instead. On the return, as ReefSalt posted back, thats also what i would suggest you using.

I am so satisfied with my H&S skimmer on my reef that i decided to get another one for my FO in my room. There is also a thread about my 140G Cube in the FO section. I will be finishing that project in my xmas break :)

Meanwhile, i have been cycling my LR with the H&S A150-F2001 and i have to say that i am very impressed with the Aquabee pump.

Enought chit chat, here's some picture. In the picture, its feed by a maxijet 1200.

This picture was taken around 7-8 hours later. No need to say, my LR really need to get skim and the skimmer was doing quite his job perfectly! Breaking time... could not say...lol

Sorry but the garage is a mess...

I can't believe i had not seen this thread before. Happy of making my contribution :)

Holy Cow, that's some kind of skimmate. I got to get mine up and running. I have a few C'mas party's this weekend but maybe Sun. or Mon. I can do something w/ it.

I used to own the same skimmer. I have said it before, I think that is one of the finest skimmers ever made. The sum of the parts of a skimmer - flow through, LPH, cylinder diameter, where the water enters/exits, diameter of the wetneck, etc - everything are perfect. It took NO time for mine to break in either. Here is one of many disgusting pictures I have the morning after I added Kent Essential Elements - it skimmed them right outta my tank, lol. It was actually greener in real life, like lime jello!

At times I only ran 300GPH thru it and it worked great!

I'm putting together a ~140G right now and I'm having an H&S custom made, it will be the same body as the A200, but with only one Eheim and shorter. I hope it works as well!

Fliger, oh yeah you bet! I was skimmerless for a week since i had to sell my old skimmer which was a clone aeroformer 48" beckett feeded by a GRI520. It was a good skimmer and it was doing the job...but nothing compare to the H&S. :)

But as you can see on the last picture which was taken this week, i am someone that kinda feed a lot. Around 3-4 times a day lol!

Fliger, why dont you go for ab A200-1260. I believe the size is much likely like the 2x1260. Its just a little bit smaller in height but otherwise, i believe its almost similar and you wont have to pay the price for a custom :)

Thats funny, i guess next time you will have to shut down the skimmer if introducing some product ;)

after 4 years with a H&S 150-F2001 i decided to upgrade and ordered a H&S 200-1260 today. I need it a bit modyfied cause
i donÃ"šÃ‚´t have enough hight under my tank, so it will be built tomorrow ( 2 inch less hight )and i can pick it up on thursday.

So, IÃ"šÃ‚´m a happy camper now

:D

sometimes itÃ"šÃ‚´s good to be german:D

I live only 30 miles away from H&S and know the owner
since 20 years, so itÃ"šÃ‚´s no problem. called him this evening,
and he will build it tomorow.

Thats funny Thomas, I'm having the exact same skimmer modified the exact same way for the exact same reason.

If you want something modified here in the states, just contact finsreef, its much quicker (and less expensive) than you'd think.

Yeah, but I bet you Thomas is getting his at a better price.:)

LOL, considering how the US Dollar sucks as bad as both our football teams do ;-) and the Euro is kicking our butt - I'd say so too. It used to be $0.85USD = 1E, now its $1USD that equals .85E. So a 1,000E skimmer used to cost us $850, now it costs us $1,200.

Hey, that's not right. They are turning the corner and digging theirselves out of the cellar. Just wait for next year.

of course i will get the skimmer for a very special price.:D

if i see the normal price in € and the prices you have to pay

in $ i would have stayed with my old one.

and the 150 f2001 is a good skimmer

got my new 200/1260 today and i have a question
? do you run your skimmers with the airvalve all open or do you
have it closed a bit?

if i run mine with no airvalve the airintake is very poor, if i close
it a bit, it starts running like hell.

i phoned to ulli from h&s about it, and he told, it should run fine
without the airvalve, but itÃ"šÃ‚´s not working for me.

it should run better with the air valve closed a little bit. i am no engineer but supposedly closing the airvalve allows the needlewheel to spin better and in turn draw more air into the skimmer. there is more info on this earlier in this thread. hope that helps. mike
