looking good Mike!
A250 huh? Just means you gotta get a bigger tank

I had the same concerns about the Aquabee pumps, so that's why I really wanted a custom short A200 like JeffLam's. That is my ideal skimmer and JeffLam bought it. Well, Ed told me that he had no concerns about the H&S Aquabee as not one single owner has complained about them failing or having problems. At least not one of his customers and I haven't seen any postings on the H&S/Fins Reef forum. The main problems with Aquabee pumps are all on Deltec skimmers and calcium reactors. They fail and DeltecUSA seem to ignore their cry for help, almost like avoiding the tons of Aquabee pump problems. So, I don't think you have anything to worry about. And even if you were the exception and had a pump failure, it's $159 to replace, not $375 plus highly marked up s/h/i (that's another Deltec issue in progress on their forum).Originally posted by Aquaticman74
I'm not using the air valves, so it's a sort of a wet skimmate.
I want to jump on a BM250, but Ed keeps talking me out of it lol. I'm just nervous about all the bad things I read about the aquabees as they get older.

I think the Deltec owners were questioning the extensive modifications that Deltec did to their Aquabee pumps and whether they are more prone to long term failure rate now. And expensive, $375 plus highly marked up s/h/i. As for their calcium reactor Aquabees, I believe it has something to do with the fluidized calcium material that they are using and it sticks to the inside of the pumps really easy. Need to be cleaned & maintained monthly to avoid any problems is what I can best guess. That's a lot of work if you ask me. I think quarterly is too much already.Originally posted by Aquaticman74
Great point. It is always the Deltec skimmers and reactors with the aquabee problems. I wonder why that is?![]()

Is this for your new 240?
This is for a 240g plus I'm sure you have a sump? Isn't it too small, surprised that Ed would recommend such a small skimmer, unless your bioload is light. I was considering this skimmer for my 180g.Originally posted by jeffreylam1132
Yep. Can't wait to set this baby up.
I never had any problems with my 601 Deltec Calcium reactor with the Aquabee pump i clean it every six months with out taking the reactor down i never yet had to empty my Deltec reactor i just add Media on the top. i have a large sponge on the top of the fluidize reactor that i clean when i add media about six months or so . I had no media in to my aquabee pump yet .Originally posted by Reef Sponger

I am not deliberately talking crap as you say, to irritate or offend you. I am just repeating what I've read in many threads and posts on the Deltec forum (their own forum) about problems owners are having with the Deltec version of the Aquabee pumps. In researching throughout the Filtration equipment forum, I have seen posts after posts warning hobbyists to stay away from Aquabee pumps. This definitely concerned me about the H&S version as well. But the dealer I purchased from is an authorized dealer for both Deltec and H&S equipment and he wasn't aware that one single complaint about H&S Aquabee pump, this is fact. So, based on his recommendaton for my system, I ended up downsizing to a smaller skimmer with the Aquabee pump and believe me, this was not what I was looking for or initially wanted. I'm sorry if you feel offended as I certainly don't have you in mind when I post about Deltec. It's just that's what my research discovered on the Deltec forum about Deltec high costs of replacement parts and very mixed reviews about customer service, leads me to stay away from Deltec equipment. I don't have to own a piece of Deltec equipment to know that there's some problems going on in the Deltec forum. Right now, I have no intentions of buying a piece of Deltec equipment and it would be very difficult for Ed (my skimmer dealer) to talk me into buying a piece of Deltec equipment. BTW, my next skimmer is a ATi Bubblemaster 160, not even a H&S even though I think very highly of H&S skimmers. Sorry Zoom to offend you.Originally posted by Zoom
You always talk crap about Deltec but you never own one. I do have the whole line of deltec equipment and never had any problems with any of them.
