haddoni causing avalanche

well, my new yellow / green haddoni had been moving daily inch by inch. it moved sideways along the rocks and then recently started moving into the rock work. i woke up this morning to an avalanche, and my purple gig smashed :(

so... my main concern at this point is the haddoni. it attaches to the bottom of the tank, and keeps moving. it is basically undermining my rockwork. well... it actually did.... the gigs attach to the bottom of rocks, and don't cause that issue. at this point, i'm worried about it causing another avalanche. i'm almost afraid to put it back in.

i suppose i could pull all the rockwork out, drill, and put in rods. that's a lot of work, and i don't really feel up for it at this time.

with the purple gig smashed, i'm down to only my multi-colored gig and the yellow / green haddoni. i'm about ready to break the tank down... i don't feel like dealing with this again...

Try to find out why the haddoni is moving. If conditions are favorable, they'll sit still for years on end.

Is there enough light? Do you have sand? Is there to much flow?

Gig's and haddoni's have very different flow requirements. If you have enough flow for the gig, you may have to much for the haddoni.

yah, my gigs never moved more then an inch in 6 months. conditions are perfect for them. plenty of light, couple inches of sand, and good wave action. flow might be an issue. it's only a 60g cube though. can't change that much and keep my gig happy.

the haddoni is new / fresh import. wondering if it's just not used to tank conditions?

i don't know... it's seriously discouraging...

If I had to pick one issue it would be flow bc it's hard to keep a gig and a Haddoni happy in smaller tanks with appropriate flow requirements for both. I remember my metallic green Haddoni moving rocks too. Sorry about your purple gig getting smashed. I noticed when I mess around with my tank and spend a lot of time to make it perfect it can become discouraging. Once you figure out what to do with the Haddoni leave everything be for 2 weeks to take a break and just enjoy your tank. Otherwise, I know the feeling

Saw your comment about not wanting to drill, which I totally understand.

I'd recommend using large amounts of epoxy, and suring up any loose rocks with it. Start with the foundation, and add pieces of epoxy until each piece is more solid.

Depending on the size of the tank, I'd recommend a few tubes of epoxy. Don't do it all at once, as your skimmer will go crazy!
