Experts, please let me know your thoughts. Is this a Gig or a Haddoni?

Does it have purple dots on the underside of the column? If yes, then it is a gig and if not then it is a haddoni .

It looks like an acclimating -- possibly sick -- gigantea. Do you have a QT tank ready? Did you get it online?

I died overnight. It was liquifying when I got it. It was sold as a gig, but I thought it was a haddoni because I could not see any purple spots on the underside.

Ouch sorry to hear about that. When they're that small, the verrucae are sometimes barely visible.

Thanks. I actually bought 2 from Blue Zoo. Received them on Saturday. The other one was pretty much DOA, the one in the pics lasted about 24 hours.

This pic is from last week of the one I got from iBluewater about 6 weeks ago. I paid a lot more for that one, but it is doing very well and really starting to color up now.

I saw that they got a few in. I've never ordered from them. We called and they weren't specific about what they had or colors. They were side stepping questions. We decide not to order, and I'm glad we did. They had 5-6 total.

I thought you may have purchased it from Blue Zoo -- it looked familiar. I know they don't offer a guarantee on gigs, aside from their "arrive alive" guarantee. Did they issue you a credit, at least for the first one?

Also, it looks like it went right into the DT. Is it the same DT as the iBluewater gig?

I have 3 tanks. I put these in a tank that just has a Mag. and a clam. The first was gone in a matter of hours. Had to do a huge water change. Then I pulled the one in the pic and put it in a QT tank where it liquified shortly after. The Mag is fine. Got lucky there. I know I should have quarantined them to start. The iBluewater gig is in a different tank.

I've noticed that the infections seem to be species specific. I have not had a gig pass to mag or Vice Versa. Hasn't happened yet anyways. :-)

How much water were they shipped in, and what were the colors of these two. One looked green? They did overnight shipping right? Was the water temp too hot when they arrived?

I'm sorry for your loses. Maybe they'll give you ur money back.

.

You may be on to something here. Years ago, before cipro, I 'd add gigs to my system frequently, only to have them melt away. It was a smaller system, (2) 75 gallons tied with common sump. None of my other nems got sick, or melted, that I can recall. And, I tried a lot, a lot of times. Years ago. I had BTA, sebae, haddoni, and mag. Didn't seem to affect any of them. Not sure I'd risk it, but you may be right.

That is specifically why I did not put them in with my other gig. When I read about infections spreading through people's tanks, they always to be wiping out one species.

Blue Zoo is saying they prefer a photo when requesting a refund. I did not document the horrors of it all. So not sure if they will provide one or not. If they do, I will buy from them again, if not, highly unlikey. I will let everyone know either way.

I had similar experience with them, and provided a photo. I told them at the time, "the gig is not healthy, will not hold itself up properly." They told me, "looks like it made it to us" and I never received a refund. It was removed in under 24 hours and in the trash. I don't expect them to be much help for you either. That was years ago, I have never ordered from them again.

Sorry it didn't make it. Best of luck on your next try.

Thanks. I am doubtful as well.
