Haddoni Treatment Progress

The reason I want to keep the anemone without medication for a few days is that I have other anemones in the tank. I did not want to introduce infection into my tank. Sometime antibiotic just suppressed the infection but not quite cure it. Stop the medication my cause the anemone to relapse.
Two or three days without antibiotic and the anemone is fine, then I add him into my tank without worry.

I completely agree with the reasoning behind your hesitation. I don't have any other anemones in my DT but I certainly have no desire to pull this anemone from the DT again. It was a big enough hassle just doing it once. "Better safe than sorry."

Last dose of cipro was given yesterday so now I will just stick with water changes for the next few days from my DT. In a way, it's just a very, very slow acclimation back to my DT if you want to look at it that way as well as heeding the advice of monitoring for relapse.

Thanks for the help guys...you've give me some invaluable tips/pointers. I hope threads like mine help other people who are considering owning or who own these anemones.

5 gallon (50%) water change from the DT with no ill effect so far. I made sure to check on it periodically throughout the evening but all is well. I moved the powerhead up a little for more water surface agitation and I think it sent more flow directly onto the anemone because it has moved back to the coffee cup.

You and me both...I learned a lot in a short amount of time thanks to the remote oversight from some of our nem vets here and a reliable local from our board. I probably would never have even tried if it weren't for them blazing the path for treatments.

Spent Friday afternoon transferring the haddoni back to the DT. Everything went well and after roughly 2 days, it has shown no signs of weakness. In fact, it has managed to eat a 4" butterfly fish as well -_-

I put it back where I wanted it (where it was the first time) but it has chosen to face a different direction. It's still visible so I'm not sweating it.

Mine is in the front left corner facing backward, so I get to see it best on top down. LOL

Glad to see it back in the DT. Now to get it some friends so it will not be lonely.

10 day update:

Good news--The haddoni is doing really well. It has opened up and spread out roughly 10-11" wide now but that's also thanks to the bad news,

Bad news--BOTH pyramid butterfly fish have been snagged now. 2 expensive snacks in a short amount of time. My fiancee was irate. She has compared my tank to a death cage match.

:sigh: I knew the risks.

Is what it is, I guess. The clowns have been eyeing the anemone pretty hard now that the butterflies are not in the tank. They didn't get bullied but the pyramids definitely "took over" the tank thanks to their size and swimming habits. The occy. clowns have now come from the backside of the tank and seem mildly interested in the anemone. At this point, I'd prefer them to stay out of it as I'd prefer not to have to deal with my fiancee over eaten clowns.
Should they become lunch, I'll definitely be adding natural symbiant like a black clarkii pair or a pair of Chrysopterus.

Sorry to hear about the expensive meal, but like you say, it's part of the risk with these anemones. Glad it's looking good, one of the hardest things is to make it stay where you want it to :p

At the 1 foot mark.

I've begun making plans for a cube just for this anemone with a pair of clarkiis. I purchased a sufficient LED fixture and I have everything else. I'll probably do a simple rockless or very low rock count and a 3-4" sand bed.

What size Cube tank will you get? I think a cube tank with Haddoni and clowns can be a extremely nice display. Your Green anemone is a beauty. There is no green anemone as nice as a green Haddoni.
I am glad that he is doing very well under your care.

For a temp. amount of time, it will be in my old JBJ 28 until I can source something to the tune of 24x24x15. My ultimate goal is for a shallow seagrass biotope with just seagrass bed, haddoni and the pair of clowns.

The haddoni, sea grass biotope tank is moving A LOT faster than I had anticipated. Picked up a used 40 gallon 24x24x17 tank today and am picking up a Maxspect light shortly after work. I need to figure out the stand and sump next. I'll start up a new thread soon I guess :)

This is going to be a shallow tank. Looking foward to see the thread. Do you have an anemone for this tank already?

I'm moving the green haddoni from my DT so my wife can stop complaining about how she can't like any of the fish for fear of them being eaten. She has nick named the haddoni "Jeffrey"....as in Jeffrey Dahmer.

I finished removing the rim from my old JBJ 28 and got it looking brand new last night. Test-fit the Maxspect nano light over it and it looked pretty solid. I'm going to bring the stand in tonight and clean it up and get the tank running. I've got an unopened bag of Tropical Eden Reeflakes to use that should be more than enough to set up a 3-4" sand bed.
