Haddoni under PC's

I'm temporarily housing a new Haddoni under 65W PC's in my fuge. I had to take him in now but I also need to set up another tank to preserve some of the bottom dwellers in my current show. He doesn't look great but seems stable. I've only had him a week so I haven't tried feeding yet. Can he stay under PC's for a significant length of time (4 weeks) or is he on borrowed time already?

I'm not too certain...I would say it could live as long as it gets feedings. It may bleach and its far from ideal but I would think it would make it.

Many years ago I kept my tan one under 6*65 PC (( over a 75 )), I did it for at least 4 years. While it survived it wasn't thriving, looked a lot better once I upgraded to 2*250 MH. How big is your fuge, and how close is it to the lights?

When you do move it, remember to acclimate it to the new lights -- layers of window screening works great. 3 layers should do, and remove a layer each week.

When you say it doesn't look great, what exactly does that mean? Is the mouth open at all? Did you get it online or from an LFS? (( if an LFS, how long did they have it? ))

I did get it from an LFS, they had it about 4 weeks. His mouth is a bit open however under a seperate post I was told to not panic as it's still acclimating. I fed it for the first time last night and it did eat. I do have an 175W MH hood although I'm not sure it'l'l fit. Looks like I'll be finding out. BTW my sump is 100 Gal and the fuge is about 40.

It will be fine in the short term. I kept one for a year under PC's. The one in my avatar actually and he's still going strong.

Just throw your MH over it, cut it, break it, mash it, just get some lighting over it. As said above it's on borrowed time, and didn't sound particularly healthy when you got it. If it was in pristine condition and was in great health it might be a different story, but as it wasn't, do what you can to make the lighting as good as possible for it.

You can't just throw a MH over it --- would need to know what lighting it was under at the LFS. Adding too much light too soon can cause just as many issues as not having enough light.

Not having enough lighting cause/will cause troubles in the long run, but low lighting for 4 weeks won't kill it. It is doesn't make it, it would be for other reasons.

I agree with Toddrtrex. Anyone with any Anemone experience knows you can't just shock an Anemone with that big of a lighting difference. 4 weeks won't harm the animal long term.

Thanks all...I'll put the full court press on clearing out his permanent home and get him in there as quickly as I can.
