haddoni's in just sand ie no rock.

Has anyone kept/keep a haddoni in just a deep sand bed without any rock ? Both of my haddoni are currently sat in the sand bed which is approx. 3" deep, maybe slightly more. They both have their foot under an adjacent rock. I'm currently slowly moving my corals and rockwork out of the tank to create a more lagoonal type setting. Having seen many scenes such as the 'Holy grail' thread on here and also pictures from Chek jawa indonesia etc it seems that many haddon iin the wild simply don't have an adjacent rock to stick their foot under. Is this because they feel comfortable with their foot attached to a sub sand rock and sufficient depth of sand to envelop their column ? What sort of sand depth do you feel would be appropriate ? I'm trying to do this once and get it right the first time so any experiences or suggestions will be welcome. Tank dimensions are 52" x 32" and water depth just for clarification is 24" I'm aiming for an additional two haddoni in this tank for a total of four.

They are NEVER in sand only. They are always attached to rock UNDER the sand. Trust me - it's not like you can go out in the wild and pluck them out of the sand loose - they are firmly anchored and in most cases can pull themselves completely under the sand if disturbed. If you don't want any visible rock in your tank, I would consider trying to bury a rock with a large hole in it and putting the anemone in the middle, or something similar. If you just have sand with a glass bottom, I expect your anemone will just keep moving. 3" is not very deep sand.

I knew that I hadn't put enough detail into the question. Sometimes I'm just plain lazy when typing ! I wasn't suggesting that they just sit in sand in the wild. I assumed that they would be attached to rock under the sand. But mine like to get their foot (feet ?) UNDER an adjacent rock. Would they do the same thing if the sand was say 6" deep ie try and get the foot under a rock rather than attach to the top surface of the completely buried rock ? Do they like to have a rock adjacent to the oral disc or is this just a substitute for the missing comfort factor of a deep sand bed ?

No need for PVC or any fancy technique.
Just dig a depression and bury the haddoni's foot. If it's a healthy haddoni, it will do the rest and anchor to the bottom of the glass. I can see the foot of my haddoni clearly if I look under the tank.

The question is, will the haddoni like that. In my IME, haddoni like to shield themselve from high flow. So if your flow is not too much, I don't see a problem with this.
