After trying for 3 weeks to get decent shots of the tank, I gave up and tried my hand at a short video. Not the greatest, but at least you can see who calls my tank home.

I found out that zebrasoma sp. tangs do not fair well in Cu treatment. With my initial treatment for ich last year around this time, the desjardini developed HLLE. I was extremely frustrated with my situation and dosed cupramine between 0.5ppm and 0.6ppm. I know that was too high and the desjardini suffered because of it. Fortunately, he is slowly healing.
Last April/May, I made an impulse buy and acquired 3 purple tangs and a yellow tang. All fish were doing great and I decided to do a preventative cupramine treatment on them. Over the course of 4 days, I raised the Cu level to a target of 0.4ppm. I maintained that for about 3.5 weeks. I wanted to go 4 weeks, but the purple tangs stopped eating just past the 3 week mark. Over the next couple months, I watched the purple tangs severely deteriorate. They developed severe HLLE and their fins receded. I lost one during that time. Honestly, I didn't think any of them were going to survive. My potter's angel and black onyx clown were in the same QT as the purples and they did fine throughout the treatment.
The yellow tang was in a divided 20H QT tank with the powder blue. The powder blue did well throughout the treatment, but the yellow tang stopped eating towards the end of treatment. He slowly became emaciated and I thought he too was a goner. Fortunately, he slowly rebounded and I moved him into the 75 gallon last November.
In an effort to reduce the number of tanks running in my basement, I decided to combine the purple tangs with the yellow tang. I thought all hell was going to break loose with the move but was willing to roll the dice. While in the 55gal QT, the purples were divided with eggcrate. Daily, they would try to nip and slash each other through the eggcrate. After rearranging a bunch of rocks in the 75, I added the purples. There may have been some initial skirmishes, but to my surprise, all three tangs get along with each other. The yellow tang is about twice the size of the purples, so that helps him assert his dominance if need be. Both purples are eating well, but are quite deformed from the Cu experience. The HLLE is present, but isn't getting any worse an may actually be healing. Their dorsal and tail fins are pretty much gone, but they seem happy swimming around in their larger home. In a few months, I may add all three to the display tank if I think they can hold their own.
The next main activity for the tank will be getting air circulating through the DT canopy. I'm thinking about a Fantech HRV, but need to do some more investigative work. Not only do I want the air circulation through the DT, but I want to have a supply and exhaust drop in my basement. My basement is only ~625sqft, so I'll need to size a unit with that in mind as well. I'm probably a couple of months away from making that happen. Once that's done, it will be time to get some lights into the canopy!
