remove your pumps and soak them in vingegar for 30 min.
Take them apart and soak--remove the magnets and the props
Take a scrub brush to them and get rid of all the alagae ect.
Put the pumps back together again
Run the pumps in the vinegar for 10 min--rinse and run them in water for another 10 min

thanks capn.

i'm rearrangeing my pumps today as well because food always seems to collect on the surface over my frag rack, also i'm going to reglue that bit of xenia down lower on my overflow. i did alot of frag glueing today. tank is getting a WC today as well. alot happening, i hope my tank denizens arent too upset by it. thanks agian.

what size is your tank. You should have a flow of 20-40 times the tank volume in gph. With those power head so clogged I doubt you are getting the necessary flow. this in turn is causing the problem of the build up of algae---it is just not getting the phosphates and nitrates back into the water column where they can be filtered out.
IMO if you clean out those ph's good, address the flow and clean up the tank good, you should be able to keep that build up of algae to a minimum
