hairy shroom / gaping mouth?

Fed yesterday and today mouth is agape, almost as if splitting. Any idea what's up?

This is how they reproduce. If it was fine for a while and then this happened all is well.

since it is already splitting in two, can I cut it in quarters with a part of the mouth with each?

Just let it alone once the split starts they will spilt and heal much faster then if you cut them up. most only cut shroom that they have had for some time that will not split so count yourself lucky in that you got splitters

I have to say I have never had a mushroom that split , not including ricordia. I have hundreds of new shrooms over the years but they always spread by leaving a piece of their foot as they move along the rock.

Common shrooms will drop babies this way but rodacts and disco's prefer to split rather then leave footlings although mine have done both.
