HaleMoana - 210 In Wall

Well, I moved last year and had to break down my old 75 gallon. It was heartbreaking to have to break it down, but I knew this day would come when I would finally start building my dream build. So, here it is.

Please feel free to follow along and post any suggestions, comments or polite criticisms.

Equipment List (so far)
Bubble King Super Marine 250
Geo 624 Calcium Reactor
2 x Vortech MP60W ES (one on each side of tank)
1 x Vortech MP40W ES (on back of tank facing forward)
Reef Keeper Elite with NET, Remote Display, etc...
Leaning towards the Reeflo Super Dart Gold (but still considering the Barracuda)
Considering AI LED Sol's but not sure yet about lighting.

Made some great progress yesterday with the help from Bob and his awesome tool collection. *Wall is up. *Stand is still in the making. *I should be able to get 2 more coats of mud up today and hoping to get a coat of primer up today too. *

My original plan was to use a 90L as my sump/frag tank under the tank, but it after building the wall, it became clear quickly that the 72" tank will not fit well under a 72" display tank (duh), so I have to rethink my design. *Instead, I think I am going my 90L up against the back wall of the fish room, then gravity feed back into a 100G rubbermaid sump. *Still wrestling with different ideas on how to plumb and set up the system.

This wall is built like a tank. *Ganged up 2x6's for the ledger supported by doubled up 2x4's on the edges, then 12" on center studs. *Sill plate lag bolted into the concrete floor and of course tied into the ceiling. *A little over engineered (by design), this wall can hold much more than a 210... but that is exactly what I wanted. *I would rather build the wall and stand too big than too small. *

You are gonna have some serious flow in that tank. Looks to be a good start.

If you have the room to run the plumbing around the room, hard to tell from the pictures. I would put the sump and frag tank on the opposite wall from the tank.

^yes, that is what I'm leaning towards now. I was hoping not to have to do that because I was planning on a countertop on the back wall which I could use for fragging, water testing, storage, junk collector, etc... But it's looking more and more like I might be doing that and sacrificing my countertop.... at least 18" of it anyways.

Everything looks good. The only problem I see is that you said this is your dream build. As soon as youre done with this project you will probably start dreaming about a 375g. There is just never enough room. Good luck with the project.

Well, the flooring got put in yesterday along with some recessed lights to showcase the tank. Obviously still some painting and touching up to do, but the one side is getting ready. Now just gotta get the backside ready. :)

So, I took the Summer off knowing that I had a few trips planned and they were going to be my last vacations without having to worry about a tank at home. Plus too many outdoor projects going on. But now that the mercury has hit 40 degrees up here in the NorthEast, it's time to start moving again. Here are a few updated pics and I hope (fingers crossed) to start cycling by New Years Day.

Sand got delivered today. Thank you Black Friday and thank you Marco Rocks! Looks like I'm gonna have to tip my mailman this year. :)

So, I was going to be using a 210 AGA with Megaflows for my DT. The plan was to rip out the megaflows and install a beananimals. Well, as you can see I cracked the tank while drilling it... :o

Actually worked out well, because this gave me the excuse to go with a brand new custom Marineland 220 with Starphire front. And yes... I had them drill the holes this time. :lolspin:

Made some progress on the backside of the wall. Insulated it (more to hopefully cut down on pump noise through the other side of the wall), vapor barriered, concrete backer board, and then put up vinyl flooring on the wall so it should be easy to wipe down salt creep, spray, etc...
