Half Beak feeler?

Hello all, I was at my LFS and found a trio of half beaks and found them interesting to see them swim at the top of the water column. I remembered seeing them in mexico when I would go snorkelling at sea. They always swam in groups.

Anyways, I've been trying to find so info on these guys. Not much out there for the salty counter parts.

I was hoping someone here could shed some light on the species.

Reef compatible
Growth size
Feeding habits
etc

Any info would be great.

I am pretty sure they do best in brackish water

Pretty sure they're brackish water, yeah. Ask about the exact species.

Thanks for the info. I can't find enough info to find a specific species. Any links that may aid me into identify the species?

There are some completely saltwater species of halfbeaks. While the species commonly sold in freshwater departments are brackish some of them can be acclimated, similarly to mollies, to full marine as well.

I would look up the Genus on fishbase.org to find a list of all species and then try to narrow the exact one down.
