Half brown half green slimer

I bought a few pieces of corals for my lfs and the green slimer (i think thats what its called) is half and half. he said because it was hanging off to the side, half of it was not getting enough light. will it color back up or is that half a gonna? the green side has PE but not the brown.

I got a piece that part was completely white from being stuck under the liverock.
It colored back up fine.

As long as the flesh stays on and it is getting light and flow it should be fine.

Mine is like that and it's not from the flow. It is place in the middle of my tank and has alot of flow. Don't know what it is but I know it is not what has been mentioned

Last night it looks like the brown side is showing some polyp extension, so now hope for some color. location is in a high flow about 14 inches from the light.

Mine was in my tank for almost a year. Very green and full of PE. All of a sudden it started browning. It's not dead and on the brown portion there is a little PE and a section of the slimmer is ok. I really can't pinpoint the problem.
