Halide bulb

Does anyone have 175 halide bulbs that are already burned in, Im looking for a mogul base, kelvin doesnt matter. I just got my retrofit installed today and Im having an issue. After it lit for the test it doesnt seem to want to re-light itself. Is there a period of time I need to wait for it to light?

I am not an expert, but I do know the light needs to be off for about 10 min's or so. I think it is because a capacitor needs to re-enegerize itself. Leave the power off then turn it back on in 10 min's.

OK...I have it unplugged for an hour or so......and nothing.....Anyone have two mogul bulbs 175s please...or any idea why this wont energize. When I tested it it fired up fine, now nothing....what could it be?.....

Basically I want to try to isolate where the failure may have occured. Maybe I have two bad bulbs, maybe I shorted out the ballasts.

Try cleaning the contacts with alcohol, both the bulb and socket, sometimes grease or corrosion will make this bulbs act weird like that.

Hi,if the ballasts are magnetic style, then they will make a definate "humming" sound-doesn't matter if the bulb is lit or not. Also if magnetic,it is possible you blew the capacitor(don't want to insult you,if you know your way around a ballast, but it is the large either plastic or metal tube). Some new bulbs, are hard on capacitors & can fry them when first fired up.If you're using electronic ballasts then sorry,I'm no use to you.Good luck.

i also have 2 175 bulbs if you need and also a used set up of 175 magnetic ballast that i have some parts for (transformer and capacitor) PM me if you need

They are are electronic ballasts. Dang this is frustrating I think the ballasts may be bad. , I dont think its the bulbs, but cant really be too sure. I called hamilton and they are getting me two new ballasts, which I will have friday till then the tank is on actinics.....will that hurt anything by the way?

Also is anyone running 175's right now, maybe you could test my bulbs....
