ok guys whats the deal is it the bulb or ballast it comes on but not all the way it seems and it has been on for hours.... whats wrong?

not unless someone has an old 175w laying around the screw in kind lol i dunno what they are called new to halides

I have an old 175W as well. Don't know if I am closer to you then the Dr. or not. I had a ushio that did exactly what you are explaining. I latter learned it was not compatible with my type of ballast.

thanks doc i got the bulbs he glen was nice enough to bring them up to my work for me while i was working. i got the first one in now and it is definately brighter waiting for it to cool off and then i am going to try the other bulb and see if i can tell any difference. also doc if this works i really had my eye on that piece of coral glen recently added to his tank i think he said it was a blue torch or tort???? anyways i am looking to get into some hard stuff and im pretty sure that you know what is best for me to do and not to do, so im pretty much gonna leave that up to you but i would really like to just trade it back to you for some corals instead of cash

thank god it worked! thanks very much doc and glen for all your help. both bulbs worked. ill drop the light off at glens in the morning after work so you can pick it up or he can bring it to you i have to work till 3pm and im assuming that your going to the frag swap. so you wont be available till the afternoon anyways. i could just come by after work i work right by your house.
