I had a speckled Hawkfish that terrorized everything in my 30g, made my littlke high fin goby disappear. So I had a much larger Flamehawk in my 90 which i figured would teach that speckled a lesson. In the 90 went the speckled and the flamehawk went after it for about 5 minutes then they were buddies...
Something else that I have noticed after having both, Flamehawk and speckled Hawk in my 90g is that the Flamehawk is much more laid back. I will never have a tank without a flamehawk.
As a matter of fact, we lost our hawkfish in a power outage in January and we were lucky enough to have found that our LFS has 2 that were about 1 1/4 inch, so we picked them both up.
And about the shrimp, I have always had shrimp with my Hawks, and never seen them go after the shrimp at all. I have had skunks and currently have a couple fire shrimp. As a matter of fact, the hawks are the only fish in my tank that will allow the cleaner to clean them. The sit there and get the inside of their mouths cleaned and all. I think 9 times out of 10, your hawks (I only have experience with speckled and Flamehawks) will not touch the shrimp if feed properly.
