Hamilton 14K users, any comments on the bulb?

Would appreciate any input on performance on the Hamilton 14K bulbs.

Any impact on growth, colour etc? Also what wattage and ballast you using and whether it's DE or SE.

TIA :)

I have tried several others and keep coming back. I use 2 250W SE ones on my 58g. I get a good balance of growth and color.

I used the 250 DE on a 40 gallon and did not like the growth. The color was awsome, but the growth was terrible. I am now running the aqualine 10k. This bulb has the color of a 13k but par of a 10k. The aqualine was worth the money.

14 k double ended. color is good so far. good growth. i just changed one to a phoinex bulb.. phoinex is close but maybe a lil bluer. i hope this helps.

iuse 400w DE's. i love the color. its a crisp blue/white ice color. good growth as well. definately an awesome tradeoff when itcomes to growth speed and color.

250SE and i do not like it at all..i have one on my 54 corner, color is decent, and growth is eh.. who knows maybe i need two.. but, all my SPS is in the top 1/2 of the tank..

Double ended lamps are not going to be as blue as the SE lamps.

I have been thrilled with the hamilton bulbs as a whole. Great company and great equipment.

pleasing to eyes but Growth is a bit slower. I run them both on my 75g and 120g but had to change it for my sps is not getting any bigger......

I tried these as my first bulbs on my 180 for 6 months . They were OK for brown acros but then I switched to Ushio 10 K and got color and growth. Then went to XM which was just as good for me but then I found my best bulb so far with the 13 K guesman (spelling ?) This bulb is awsome, better color and growth.

Thanks guys for the feedback. If there's anymore keep 'em coming.

Changing out of my BLV(Ushio) 14k to the Hamilton 14k. so needed some reassurance.....

Love the colour. best I have had on my tank by far since I can't run actinics. but growth is kinda meh..

still love the colour tho.. my soft corals seem to love it. Even right underneath.

Funny, I would not consider that switch for even a second. Are you not happy with the BLV bulbs?

Yup facing some problem with the BLV, not me alone....a few reefers here have similar issues. Could be a batch problem but who knows?

Here is 2x250w SE 14k Hamilton (Icecap Ballast) with 4 T-5 10k and aquablue...

It was really nice but had to change it cuz as you can see my tank needs some growth:D

well i just switched from the 14K on a magnetic ballast to the 14Kon a electronic ballast.. all i can say is wow!! it is about twice as bright.. it really has no blue to it though.. it is a very nice bright crisp white with a touch of blue..i take back what i said about not liking them.. so far it looks great on an electronic ballast..
