Hamilton 250 watt MH

I have 3 250w reefstars above my 175. I drilled holes to match up and put screws/bolts on from the top side. This way I can loosen them enough to lower the pendant and slide the glass out to change the bulbs without removing the canopy. I can grow just about any sps on the sand too.

The hammy lights were a little white for me so after 6 mos, I went with phoenix.

The 400w version available only at marinedepot is tempting but there aren't many 400w hqis available right now.

Dr F/S has them on sale too.

thank you for the info. pictures speak 1000 words. Your reef looks great. How much 'whiter' is the stock reefstar than the phoenix?

going by the date on here this should be with the hammies before alot of corals put in. The second pic is actually with 2 hammies and one Hikari Arcadia--it actually looks like HD which is a rarity with my camera skills!

They are really only 5" thick and spread light wide--only one in the center where the bow is....

your pics are great! Looks like they're definitely able to spread the light wide enough for my tank.

So far it looks like you really like them. Would you buy the Hamilton's again?

Thanks again!

I just ordered the Lumen Max Elite reflector, 250w Lumatek digital ballast, and a Phoenix 14000k bulb from Marine Depot for $337.00! For 30 bucks more this is IMO a better deal. By the way M.D. matched ReefGeeks price on the reflector!

wow darkstar, that is a good deal. It's actually about $45 more though (I am looking at the drs fostersmith prices)

I've heard good things about the lumen max elite reflector as well..

Keep in mind that you get more par and a whiter blue with the magnetic ballasts from hamilton....I run electronic ballasts on my 90 with phoenix MH and they are much bluer and not as bright.
