Hello everyone new here as livingreef seems to be slow anymore. First off hello everyone, and a little background before I get to my hammer problem. I have been reefing for a few years now and it never ends to surprise me how much there is to learn, as well as how much the hobby has evolved. I set up my first tank about 8 years ago 90 gallon that I left with my father when my wife and I bought our house.
We did take our 6 gallon nano to the new house it had 2 baby clowns at the time. Let's fast forward a few years recently added a rbta and hammer coral. All is well in the tank untill we come home from work to a wet floor.
Went into emergency prep mode and was able to save the rbta and clowns, hammer was out of water for way too long.
So here we are now. A fully cycled 45 jbj with the happy clowns and happy rbta. My wife and I purchased what we thought to be a perfectly healthy hammer coral last week. 4 healthy heads a bit smaller than the size of your fist when expanded. We brought it home acclimated it and it never expanded all the way. We are now down to a head and a half. All the heads start off at about 1/3 extension, go to full retracted and start releasing a clear/white mucus. The next day the head is half gone. They are not bleaching and have retained full color while disappearing.
Paramus are as follows API test kits:
Salinity - Stable 1.026
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite-0
Nitrate- 5-10
Phosphate- undetectable with kit reads 0
Ph- red Sea kit 8.0
Alk- 8 (tested a few hours after my water change today)
Temp 78.6
Hardware on tank:
Brand new skimmer breaking in currently
ATO
Media reactor 2/3 carbon 1/3 GFO
Lighting Radion XR30W Gen 4 set at 27 to 30 percent
Mp10wQD
Return nozzles IM spinstream
RO/DI water
Here is a pic of the hammer:

Thanks everyone.
