Hello I've been helping my cousin set uf a 75 gal

on tues. he recived a nice hammer coral from pet sol.

I went to my cousins home today because he told me the hammer coral did;nt look right , when i arrived the tisseue
was peeling from the its base.
u cansee the white skeloton where it used to be attached

is this RTN? if so is there anything i can do to save it?

What does RTN mean? I have a hammer doing the same thing. It started receeding after about three months in my tank. It started on one of the heads, then two days later (today) all that is left is two heads. PLEASE HELP!!

(sorry for not answering your question, free bump anyway!)

RTN=(Rapid tissue necrosis)

this is when the tissue retreats from the skeleton and stops depositing calcium,
the polyps of the coral apper healthy
but the skeleton dosn,t grow evently the tissue will start to sloth off from the skeleton base.
there are a number of causes (injury,low calcium among others).

I am trying to figure out how to stop its progression...
