Hammer Coral - Something strange?

I have had this coral in my tank for 3 weeks now and one of the heads is acting up since yesterday. I have notices the coral has also had more growth/expansion on the top head....any idea what's going on?

Could have been stung by the torch in the first picture. How's it doing now? I'd leave it alone unless you notice brown jelly

this happened after after I had moved the Torch coral from beside it.

There is a GSP next to it but I doubt that stung it...but a cleaner shrimp usually does try to mess with it from time to time during feeding.

I have moved the GSP away another 2 inch so lets see what happens.

is it possible that the tentacles relocated to a different head?

Tentacles don't relocate, they are just fully retracted. Sometimes they retract and bounce back in a few days. I'd say dip it but I think it would only cause more stress. Frequently look at the retracted head for brown jelly. If you see brown jelly its best to cut off that entire area and dip to prevent further spread.

Your tang is only eating it because it is dead. My bet is you don't see it eating the healthy parts. Just don't let it come in contact with that torch again.

ok so after that episode was over...a small piece started dying of last night....i am confused as to what is the cause...all the parameters are okay except ph which is around 8.0-8.1 and the dkh is a tad high around 11. can that be the reason for the dying off?

all the other corals seem to be doing fine.

This so text book coral stung by something, start running some carbon if you can and maybe move it to a safer spot :) rest of he coral should be ok maybe spot feed it for a while

it did get stung...but that was over a week ago...this new die off started last night....there is nothing close to it...should I feed it some mysis shrimp?

I have no knowledge of the torch coral being the weaker species, but when I had a torch get too close to a hammer the torch won.

May have something to do with one being larger or established in the aquarium and the other being smaller and maybe not adjusted to the surroundings?

I guess I am just going to wait and see.
