Hammer really puffed up

Hey everyone

I've had this hammer coral that started as one small head for some time now, about two weeks after I got it, it lost its hammer shape and turned into what you see in the picture. I've tried to slowly give it more light to the point where the polyps are very short and the tips stated to bleach, and have tried to shade it. No matter what I can't get the proper shape to come back. Any ideas?

looks super irritated my torch would do this when I was getting used to dosing an alil alk would burn it, but mine would shrug it off in 15 mins or so.

Could be starting to split, my frogspawn did a similair thing prior to splitting.

I've had some do that, especially before splitting like fishkeeprian said. Wouldn't say it's abnormal, just give it a bit and see how it goes. If it was stressed or dying it would be really small and shriveled up.

My hammers have changed shapes before like this. Not sure why. It hasn't been a problem for me.

Mine did this as well prior to splitting off, my guess is either an irritant or it's about to split
