This forum gets far less attention than it should. Right now there are threads circulating about pending legislation that could severely limit our rights to keep a marine aquarium. We can do something about it.
Not at the ballot box but in our own selection of organisms that we add to our tanks. Whenever possible chose aquacultured products to add to your tank. Back when I first started in SW everything was wild caught. Today one has a choice as more and more species are being bred in captivity. Not to a great extent fish but coral propagation is fairly easy and the selection of tank raised corals is huge. Yes, aquacultured Florida LR is not as attractive as its Pacific cousins. Yet, it works as well in our marine tanks.
Become active in your local reef club and obtain specimens from its members. Don't shun the local fish supplier but do ask how and where their wares were obtained. Together we can help save the reef as well as keep our hobby viable.
