hopefully i get an answer by tomorrow on this, my LFS has a green BTA in, they had it in a lower light tank for a while (went throught the overflow box to the tank they keep the LR in) but i had them move it friday morning back to the right tank. I was gonna wait and see how it looks by sunday to decide if i wanna buy it, and i looked at it today and it was open and the tips were "bubbled" is this a good sign? Does this mean its in good shape/happy? Should i get it?

How does the mouth look on it? If it's gaping, then probably not a good sign.

The other thing to consider before buying is whether or not your tank is ready for an anemone. It's really hard to give an opinion on whether or not someone should purchase something like this, even if it's healthy when we know nothing about the tank you plan on putting it in. Tank size (total water volume), lighting setup, how long has the tank been setup, etc.

tank is a 40gal, set up for around 4 months, water parameters have been perfect since the tank has been set up. I just got my new lights in, its a T5 fixture with 4 36in bulbs, rated at 156W i think, or something really close to that.

well i got the nem, foot is good and the mouth wasnt gaping. Its in the tank now, tips are bubbled and it looks healthy. My clowns swam by but didnt even touch it. Does it take some time for them to host it? Can they not host it at all?

It's weird. Hopefully the host since that's the cool part. My tomato clown hosted my RBTA within minutes while at one point in time, my 2 b&w clowns didn't even care for the same anemone.

It can take a long time, depending on the fish. I had a pair of captive-bred oscellaris that took over a year to figure it out. Now, you can't get them out.

Actually, the fact that your clowns are not mobbing the anemone is probably a good thing, since it will have a chance to settle in. As to the bubbles, they're pretty, but I don't think anyone really knows why they appear or disappear. Mostly, I think they go away over time in captivity.

when i got the GBTA, it was in less than good shape, mistake on my part, the color on it is faded but not too bad, and i cant really get it to eat... i tried handfeeding it but it just closes up if i touch the krill to its tentacles/mouth...

the real bad sign is that its tentacles arent sticky at all... and im guessing this is a pretty bad sign

like i said above, the LFS that i got it from had it in a dark tank for a few weeks since it went through the overflow box, could this be why? Do they regenerate their nematocysts (stinging cells)??
