before i put corals in my tank i'm trying to get info on what hard corals like high flow vs. which ones like low flow. easy starter corals please (newbie)

For the most part your SPS corals like high indirect flow. LPS and soft corals like medium high indirect flow and things like mushrooms like lower flow.

lps and softies like flow rates between 20 -40 times the tank volume per hour
there are exceptions---eg mushroom corals like a low flow area

sps like even for more then 40 times the tank volume per hour

Some additional exceptions include: Plerogyra(bubble Coral)Cynarina lacrymylis, Scolymia,Tracyphylia,Blastomossa welsi and others. There are several good books out there. Sprung's" Quick Referecnce Guide to Aquarium Corals" and Borneman's "Aquarium Corals" give excellent species specific information on flow lighting and other captive care requirements .
