So I'm starting to get an infestation of asterina stars in my 34g tank. Probably over 50 on the glass alone. I did some searches on the forum and found that harlequin and bumble bee shrimp will eat them but I don't want to completely eliminate the little guys or have to start buying more stars for the shrimp. People have said the harlequins will completely decimate the starfish population but is the same true of the bumble bees? Is there anything else I can put in to help control the population without completely eliminating it?
I'd rather avoid taking the stars out of the tank manually. For whatever reason it just feels wrong to me even though I know they'd end up dying anyway if I got a shrimp. I want a natural way of dealing with them.
