Does anoney keep a Harlequin Filefish?? Known to only eat SPS polyps in the wild... It's a beautiful fish and I'm so tempted to add one... wanna know if it kills alot of SPS or does it just take a nip here and there??

Here's a pic from Tanked-Upimaging of the fish:

I do keep one. I've posted some info on this fish on this board. Too bad the search function doesn't allow me to find it right now, but you should be able to find it.

IME it does prefer Acropora, Montipora and Seriatopora over other corals. These corals should be in their diet, otherwise they will starve, even if they also accept prepared foods. The one in my tank doesn't eat any prepared foods. It has doubled in size in a little more than one year..

Certainly a fish you only want to keep if you don't have problems not seeing any sps polyps anymore. If the corals are healthy enough AND if there are enough corals, the tank can handle such a fish. It DOES have impact on the tank ;)

Gosh... was hoping a few polyps a day would be enough to satisfy this little bugger.... but if its gonna rampage through my sps... I tink its a no go for adding this fish... :(

Thanks for sharing!! :)

Tony from,www.reefexotics.com has one in their 450 gallon SPS tank and is doing well and I didn't notice any significant damage to any corals......but then again there are alot of corals in a 450.

it certainly can be done, but to have one AND have little impact on the corals, you need a monster tank
