So i plan on purchasing the jbj picotope for my office desk and puttin a harlequin shrimp in there. i have those tiny stars in my 30 that reproduce like crazy. If i stick a few in and let them adapt, would this suffice the shrimp's appetite? or is the pico in general too small for it?

i think the tank will be sufficient room. i had 1 in a biocube 8. dropped a 3" chocolate chip star in there & it was gone in about 3-4 days

any stars chocolate chips are just the cheapest :) there's also the feed them one leg a week approach... or you could feed them an entire star a month

the size of the tank should be fine, but like everybody else said you'll have to supplement the shrimp's feeding. i have one in a 5g and it goes through half a chocolate chip star fish in about a week.

The main issue with keeping a harlequin in a small tank is water quality. These shrimp are very sensitive to water quality. When feeding them the starfish, you must be sure that the stars do not start rotting in the tank. As for feeding, I feed my pair one star per week. They will eat much more than most people realize, and when fed more often will do much better. My pair breeds monthly now.
