Harlequin Tusk

Anyone have any problems with this fish? I don't trust fish from the Phillipines, are they still using poison to catch these fish? I think they are beatiful but I don't want to waste my money on a fish that will die in a month or two. Thanks, Anthony

If you're wanting to ensure a cyanide-free tusk than purchase one collected in Australia.

john don't some come from hawaii or somewhere else? red sea or whatever? also they love shrimp and have large teeth when they get larger.

Rob,

They’re fairly widespread in the western Pacific Ocean and can be found from the southern tip of Japan to northern half of Australia. Rarely have I ever seen a Harlequin Tusk made available from a verifiable source other than Australia, Indonesia (Bali,Jakarta,Java,Sumatra,…too many islands to list...), or Philippines. It is possible, but not probable, that a specimen could be from another area. The bulk of what is in the trade is from the previously mentioned sources.
