Harlequin Tusk?

Hi everyone, Hey I just got a new Harlequin about 5 days ago, He seems very healthy. The thing is he hides all day while the lights are on then when the lights go out he comes out all night. Do these fish only come out at night, or is he still scared to come out. Any suggestions? Thanks

They are pretty timid fish actually. But it should come out more once adapted to its new home...Unless it has aggressive tankmates

They are definately shy upon introduction, they become more and more bold as they become more at home. Mine is out all the time and I have had him 2 months.

we have a tusk we put in a 1000gal fowlr. He did the same thing at first. It took a month or so, and he pretty much stays out all the time. These fish will still swim in and around rockwork more than other fish.

Mine did the same thing... Took a good week before he ventured out. Don't worry, he will be fine.... They are tough fish...

How did you feed your tusk while he was hiding? Stick? What did you put on the stick? I was thinking about getting a good number of ghost shrimp and dumping in the tank, even though my Volatins might make short work of them before the tusk even notices.

I just ground up frozen shrimp in a blender and fed him at night when all the lights would be off. And hoped that he was eating it. Now he is out all the time and eats blended shrimp everyother day.
