I am trying to culture some pods. I don't have a spare tank right now so I put some pods into a 2 litre coke bottle with 2"sand in the bottom and some macro algae then stick an airstone into it. I feed them phyto and drop a few pellets of dry food each day. Is this set up ok for culturing pods?

You'll end up needing some water changes now and then. They won't grow as densely as rotifers, and I don't know how they'll adapt to the temperature, but the idea should work.

Yeah, I plan to grow them and pour half a bottle into my display tank every other week and hoping that'd do the "water change". well, it's worth the experiment.

Take off the airstone - use bigger bubbles.

Adding food daily will probably require more water changes.

I was just going to suggest the opposite. When I keep small critters alive in small containers for photography I've found that some animals are actually damaged if the air comes in too strong.

I would go without the air stone, but keep the flow very gentle. The small bubbles produced by air stones can get lodged under their thecae and stick them to the surface. An occasional bubble or two is all they need for airation.
