It seems like a cool idea, the large CPR HOB will add almost 5 gallons of refugium space. I figure on a 65 gallon, adding a 6-8 inch DSB with Chaepo on top of that in addition to thier CPR Aquafuge light would be a nice addition. At least worth a try.
I used 2 of the 18" aquafuges on my 125 and they did great. Could only detect trace Nitrates and (don't try this at home) I never did but a few water changes on the tank.
i have one on my 65 gallon, does a great job. get the 18" model, if you have a hang on skimmer, like i do, you wont have much room on the back for everything.
My HOB CPR was probably one of the best things I ever did for my tank. I grew chaeto in mine and it grew like crazy nitrate levels were always near zero. I recently upgraded so I sold mine but if I ever need to I would buy another one.
My 20L has two 12" HOB refuges on it. One is full of chaeto and has the Jali light on it, and the other is full of LR rubble with no light. No complaints from any inhabitants.
I would not recommend one unless you do the following:
1) upgrade the Rio pump it comes with b/c mine would not consistenly turn on after a power outage.
2) reinforce the joints/seams some some sort of Acrylic Glue. I had the large model and it gradually fell apart (glue job) after about 6 months. Other people also had this problem in the past... not sure if it was a batch issue.
