Hatred of aquascaping!

You're talking like a photographer/artist.

That's because in order to make a visually pleasing scape you have to use art techniques. Another thing is to not have rock simply go from left to right. Negative space and shadows can make a tank really stand out.

Very well said. Our reefs are living sculptures, as they are in nature.

I'm setting up my first ever reef tank. Reefer 750 XXL.

I am told it will take years to have the tank filled with corals. For me, it's very important that the scape look nice and still have room to add corals. I think I'm going to utilize shelf rock at different heights.

My LFS has a young kid who does scaping for many of their clients. I really like his work. I'll see what he charges if I buy all the rock from them.

Depends what your trying to do. Look at Tonga shelfs. I like ledges myself. Here's the ledge I made

These should give u some ideas

I have a 75. The rock goes about 1/2 way up and almost to the middle of the tank. So the rock will be from the back of the tank going towards the front.

That's the way you will see it in the tank and I plan to cover the top in coral.
I am so wowed by your rock build! And by the rest of the examples posted. I'm getting so really good ideas for when I finally get around to building my seahorse tank. It may have to wait another year, but I will have my dedicated seahorse tank.

The black stuff is pond foam. These are just the main pices there will be foreground rocks as well. The foam is covered in sand and crushed coral.
