Have ever heard your clown fish vocalize?

I have a pair of WC perculas and sometimes the female would make this clicking sound. I will never forget the first time I heard it... I was just done feeding them and I decided to do alittle tank cleaning. when my face was right next to the glass I heard a loud series of 6-8 clicks from the female. Now when I say loud, I mean LOUD!!! I was shocked, scared, and amazed and the same time. Since then I was trying to get them to vocalize. I witnessed one incident while they were swiming in the currents, the female vocalized and the smaller male stared to twitch and do a little dance. It seems that the female makes this sound by moving her head up and down extreamly fast. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. I plan on breeding them and I would like to think that they are happy in my tank. For I try very hard for them and my corals.

I never have, but now I am VERY interested to listen for it. Can't wait to hear other people's experiences and/if there are certain factors that may play a role in this.

Pink skunks are some of the loudest I've owned, but all of the ones I have seen diving have barked at me. The best I can describe the sound is just like that trilling noise that racoons make in 80s style disney films.

My god, my pair is sooo loud. The first time I heard them doing that, it scared the crap out of me. Can easily hear it over the TV.

I've heard Domino Damsels vocalize while diving. Kind of a grunting sound when they want you out of their territory.

The bigger the fish, the louder the clicks. I have my tanks in the basement and I could hear my 6"-7" black polymnus clicking on the first floor.

My orange skunks made very deep clicks/pops. They seemed to do it most when the tank lights were on and the room lights were low. The male would click at me and also at moths that would be attracted to the tank at night.

I have always thought I had a mantis shrimp in my tank, but I never lose any fish, so I have always wondered who was making that clicking noise. Looks like I finally got my answer!! Thanks! Much happier now!

I have a mantis and a maroon clown. They will go back and forth with the noises...usually at night. If during the day the mantis is out running around she will chase it down and do the "head bob" and make those clicking noises.

I'm glad that others have experienced and have shared their stories on this... I thought i losing my mind !!! LOL. j/k... This could be one indication that they are happy and healthy. :strooper:
