Have you personally "caught" a disease from your tank?

My Dad called last night concerned. My step mom's sister, who lives near Indy, had a terrible rash on her hands. The dermatologist was unsure what is was and placed her on antibiotics. This seemed to be clearing things up, but when the antibiotic was dc, it came back and was even worse. He finally did a biopsy. When the results came back, he asked her if she had saltwater aquariums. She does. Apparently this is how she got it and they are scratching their heads on how to treat it. Has anyone ever had any experience with this?

Twice my wife got a rash from sticking her arm in the tank. It went away after a few days. We thought it might be from the chemicals we were putting in it.

What did the biopsy show that made him ask if she had a saltwater tank? I can understand an allergic reaction to touching/being stung by an anemone, fire worm or something or some of the chemicals corals release such as Frogspawn, zoa slime.

Scott, I will have to check with my stepmom, as she is also a nurse, and can probably get more information on the biopsy. My Dad said biopsy, but I wonder if he meant scraping.

there are a few different bacterial infection you can get just from the water. if you have an open sore. i have to do some digging but i remember reading a couple threads around here on what the bacterias they were.
