I had a wonderfully fishy time in Oahu! Looking over a bridge in Honolulu I saw an incredible assortment of fish; large tangs, box fish, Moorish idols and some kind of file fish that was over 2 feet long. Too great. Just there to see everyday.
I ate at the Oceanarium restaurant. http://www.pacificbeachhotel.com/ocean.cfm
Imagine eating some of the best fish (eek cannibal!) while watching fish in an incredible 280,000 gal aquarium. 400 fish, 70 species. A school of Moorish idols, so pretty. Altheas, blue tangs, yellow tangs…heaven! I saw some sort of fish which I couldn’t identify but want. Heck, I had the I wants so bad… This is a must do for anyone visiting Oahu.
I helped my son set up his 45 gal tank. We found some “dead†rock on a jetty, so of course I had to bring some home. Got the tip where to find it late in the trip. I was already packed but I did some very clever rearranging and a little leaving behind of products I can easily replace. Soooo, about 60 lbs of rock came back. It is very dense with great shapes.
I have taken pics of it and the fish from the bridge. Can be seen here: http://members.cox.net/maddogart/ What a fantastic trip!
