Hawaiian fish

Dunno who remembers, but I have a friend in Hawaii who is a diver, and back in Feb 2006 I ordered a large shipment of fish from him. Two members (Ryan and Wayne... sorry, don't remember last names) ordered some fish with me. I think they were both satisfied with thier order.... I know I was. I did lose the two Moorish Idols I ordered, and so did the other guy who ordered Idols--Ryan, I think. But they ARE Moorish Idols, and everything else did great. My chevron tang has gotten huge (lost the bright juvi colors, but hey! He's beautiful anyway).

Well, I am getting ready to place another order after the first of the year, and would be glad to get some fish for anyone else who is interested. I don't have a stock or price list yet--he said he'd email it Jan 2 or 3--but the prices were pretty good last time, and he CAN get almost anything. That doesn't mean he'll have everything in stock when I order, but he gets almost everything from time to time. Goldflake angels, crosshatch trigger, flame wrasses, dragon eels, you name it. And if I tell him what we are interested in before he goes diving, he can dive in the right areas and keep his eyes open for whatever we are looking for.

So if anyone is interested in getting some Hawaiian fish with me and is looking for something in particular, please post or pm me so I can give him a "wish list." I will post prices and availability as soon as I get them.

This was a list of all the fish he typically collects--he didn't have all of them in stock at the same time, and I don't know if this list has changed, so please just view it as a guideline. Unlike the first time I offered to order fish, I have included (almost) everything on his list (there is no way I will ever order an ornate butterfly for myself or anyone else). Some of these fish are delicate, some are MEAN, and some get ABSOLUTELY HUGE. Some are notoriously difficult to keep-though often the difficulty is the beating they take between diver/shipper/wholesaler/dealer/store, a problem I avoid by going straight to the diver! Some of these fish (like Moorish Idols) CAN do well if they are carefully captured, shipped and cared for. I had a Moorish Idol for almost two years in my first tank (before a heater failure!)

I assume I am dealing with educated and responsible reefers here--PLEASE investigate before you order! And please remember this list is two years old and may have changed. It's just a starting point. If there is a Hawaiian fish you are interested in, even if you don't see it on the list, ask. The worst he can say is, "No."

Oh, and one more thing: Because I deal directly with the diver, I can ask for special stuff-specific sizes, mated pairs, etc. Last time, I got a 5+ inch Raccoon Butterfly for my big fish-only tank, and a mated pair of bluejaw triggers. Though keep in mind that big fish cost more to ship, and that's going to be reflected in the price (last time I ordered, shipping for everything was $200. It can only have gone up since then......)

is the name of the place (CPA) Central Pacific Aquatics out of Honolulu ??? i am reading their list Wayne just gave me a few days ago ,,, list is dated Nov 03,2007 ,,,,,,, NICE PRICES !!!!!! have to pay the price shipping still ,,,,but they have CHEAP prices ,,,, 7 buck yellow tangs ,,Orange shoulder Tangs @ 8 bucks ,,,,they have a good 25-30 fish under 15 bucks ,,,,,,,,something to look into ,,,,i would order some if we could get something together ,,,, but mind who ever is going to do this ,,,,at these prices ,,,could be a good number of people who want something ,,,could get to being a cluster ____ real quick !!!!!!! ,,,could be renting a U-Haul as well ,,,

Flame Wrasse Pair, also possibly a golden wrasse, says mid pacific, but is mostly an indo fish, so not sure if he can get them or not, Also a small Achilles if they can ship with reasonable survival rate.

WOW! A flame wrasse pair looks like it should retail around $800-$1,000 ... Wonder how much he could get that price down.

I've seen flame wrasse pairs in the past for 300-350 (other places). And I definitely didn't mean to start a "commercial" thread (or a controversy). I was just planning to order, and wondered if anyone else wanted in on it. Everyone can get great quality "fresh" Hawaiian fish at a great price, and maybe I can save a little on my shipping. That's all. So, to save everyone some hassle, if you are interested, please just pm me or email me.
