Hawaiian Reefers

I'd like to incorporate the word "huna" into the name - Hawaiian for "secret" or "hidden". To some extent, I think we all can associate that with our hobby here in the islands! :D

So maybe Hawaii Huna Reef? Or Huna Reefers of Hawaii? Or simply the Huna Reefers?

Somebody help me out here!

As far as a club name I think it needs to have the word Hawaii first so when people look at the available Reef Club Forums they see "Hawaii - (insert club name here)" I originally started the "Arizona -Sierra Vista Reefkeepers" forum. Eventually the Tucson and Sierra Vista folks all stated chatting on both of them so "OWSI" and I had the Mods combine the forums to create the one you see there today.
If anyone is interested check out all the Arizona forums, my old stomping grounds. Kind of a shame that their can be a more active reef group in the desert then on a actual tropical island.

Hi guys... November is almost among us. I have the place to do the BBQ and we are trying to finalize the date. I was thinking the 17th or 18th? Are weekdays ok? My wife and I live in Aiea, our condo has a common area next to the pool and a grill. I am up for other ideas however. I think we have much to discuss (not on here). I like the huna laupapa idea... hmm.

I need to start a contact list. Please take a minute and PM me your contact information and real names (first names are fine) so we can get this goin! Im stoked!

i can definately do saturday although if its i nthe late afternoon on friday then that will work too
got any specific time yet
 
I think I'd be able to do both Friday or Saturday afternoon though I suspect that most of us either will have school/work on Friday afternoon so maybe Saturday afternoon might be better?

I liked roll221's idea of having Hawaii the first word. he probably knows the most about the club setups since he has already set one up. so I think something like
"Hawaii huna laupapa"
 
I don't know if I'd be able to attend enough meetings to be a member because of my work schedule, but I'd definetly like to tag along to a couple of them.
 
Don't think that you need to attend meetings to be a member as of yet, Seth. We haven't figured out any details yet. ;)

Everyone chime in and agree or disagree with "Hawaii huna laupapa" as a name for our RC Forum. The sooner we can agree the sooner we can get it created and move out of the Discussion Forum and into our own.
We would also need a little blurb describing our forum. Suggest we translate huna laupapa in there somewhere if that is what we go with.

Are you guys sure "laupapa" means reef? From looking it up, it appears to be a general word for "broad, flat region".

Also, IIRC the adjective should go after the noun. If it does indeed mean "reef", "laupapa huna" would be more accurate.

Although the idea of a club sounds fun, discussing illegal activities in a public forum may not be a wise idea. If you are poaching corals or smuggling them into Hawaii, you are breaking the law and there are people who will prosecute you if they are aware of your actions.
 
To me, liverock seems the key. A bunch of liverock, Protein Skimmer, M.H. lighting and that is about it. No bio/balls. JD
