Healthy Acan?

Hi all,
I've had this acan for about 3 months and he seems to be doing great. I just recently upgraded to 250w halides from PC's. I haven't seen any adverse effects thus far.

This is a shot of him during the day. He fully extends and the heads have separation between them. Is this normal? Does he look healthy? It seems like I've always seen acans with tightly packed together heads?

TIA.

It could be from the lack of light or too much flow. Did you lower your lighting schedule for a while, it may be getting too much light....

I reduced the lighting schedule to 4 hours with the halides, but run T5's for 8 hours total.
So regardless of whether its too little, or too much light, you guys think he looks unhappy?
I may have to play around with location......

Good idea. When you move it, give it time to acclimate to that spot and not rush it somewhere else.

Thinking it may be too much light.....when the lights first come on for the day he opens up nicely (under just 2 T5's). Then as the day goes on he spreads out. I'll find a shadier spot first and see how that goes.

Not sure why anyone thinks there is a problem, from the pic above your acan looks perfectly happy..there are at least 7-8 different types of acans with differing polyp types and yours looks great.

p.s..acans can adapt to most any light with time..

I agree. That acan looks perfectly healthy to me.
