Healthy looking gig's?

I was looking for some people with experience with gig's to tell me if either of these gig's look okay? I know the 2nd one is very bleached, but it seems that people are having success with bleached ones lately.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy the bleached one. You may even get a better price on it. The other I would try and catch at different times during the day to see if it is ever gaping or going into the deflation cycle. I'd definitely have Cipro on hand with the first. Good luck.

To me 500.00 is a lot of money. What is the exchange rate Canadian to US dollars?
At that price it would not go anywhere. If the condition it is under is good (much better than OK) than I would leave it there and check in the late afternoon over the next several days. Sick anemone looks worst later in the day and you want to see it at it's worst. Then you can decide.

Other important information:
Is this a good LFS?
How long have it been at the LFS?
Do you get access to Gig regularly?

If I am going to spend 500 US dollars, I want guarantee that it is alive in my tank after 2 weeks (Like Live Aquaria guarantee). I know that you cannot get things from LA.

I look for Gigs for 10+ years and there were times in the past that I would put down 500.00 for that anemone, but I am much more patient these day.
I did spend 300.00 US dollars for this anemone but it was at the LFS for 2 months (actually the owner aquarium at home) so I know that I can keep it alive.

The exchange rate is about $0.94 Canadian/$1US right now, so almost par. This is a good LFS that knows how to handle carpets, and it has been there since the start of May(4 months). The LFS is 100km's away(the closest to me), so I've only seen it once. I have seen 2 sets of pictures, and talked with another person that was interested but turned off due to price.

The purple one just came in on September 4 at a different LFS, and they want $340.

The price was another reason I hesitate for both as they seem a little high, but this is Canada where we don't seem to get them very often.

The Bleached blue one is healthier of the two. It is bleached, and have been bleached for 4 months, you may have problem bring the zooxanthellae back because it have been bleached too long. The tentacles are good. You will not have problem keep that one a live with feeding.
The purple on is still stressed from shipment but if not infected, he should be fine also. I do not think you see many newly import Gigantea that look much better than that. If you trust the LFS owner and he said that it have not deflates, he should be OK.

If I am you, I would spend 340 and buy the Purple one. Make sure you have Cipro, QT and treatment tank available to be use if needed. Most important for treatment tank is temp stability. IMO, and IME, you really need a temp controller, or a digital heater to keep temp stable. The cheaper heater are just more trouble than it worth.

The blue one had sold by the time I got there, and the purple one looked worse in person when I was there so I decided not to get it for $340. They have almost no flow in the system, so I'm assuming that it will continue to go downhill for them.

There is a store that is trying to bring in a green one for me now, but I'm just waiting to hear back from them.
