Heat is here

Air cond was turned on and fans on sump check, crap it here

Thoughts on chillers? I am struggling with my 90 keeping temps below 81.0. AC is at 77.0 sump fan is on and I a evaporating almost 2 gallons daily. LEDs, Varios6 DC pump, 2 WAV pumps and BM curve 9 skimmer, 36watt UV. Not sure what else I can do to get down around 79.0

Steve, that's odd. I've never had trouble keeping temps below 80 with an ambient temperature of 78 during the day and 79 at night. My current setup is set between 78 and 78.5 by Apex which controls two fans. One over the display and one over the sump. I have 4 tunzes, LED/T5 combo, DC skimmer pump, AC return, AC utility, 40 watt UV, and evaporate around 1.5 gallons per day. What really helps in this setup as well as my last one, is keeping the stand doors open. That was key for me.

Thank you I will open the stand doors today and see if it helps I have even pulled the back off the stand to help airflow. Just worried as we are not even close to summer. BTW loving the 165

I don't have problems with my temperature either. I try to keep my tank temp at 80 and my house at 78 during the day and 77 at night.

I do have fans in the summer but they haven't kicked in yet.

I have a few cheapy digital thermometers maybe I should get a glass one and check apex calibration

I'm peaking at about 79. I should be able to keep it under 80 for the summer if I make the switch to AI Primes.

It's too bad that I am in desperate need of new tires :uhoh3:

I would do that.

Also +1 on keeping the stand doors open. Elevated humidity inside the stand will severely reduce fan cooling, but, if you're evaporating that much water, you should be cooling pretty well too. If you don't like doing that (for aesthetics) try rigging something over your display that looks decent. CPU fans are easy to work with for custom setups.

I was able to keep temps ~80 with 700+ watts of T5/MH over my 120G and house temp set at 80. With fans over display only.

This weekend was a Godsend was able to open the doors and watched that temp probe go down to 78.5 degrees I am still around 80 today and the doors open did help. Thanks Tony. I am still thinking of putting the 1/4 hp chiller in the 150G build I am doing now to upgrade from the 90 similar to the Red Sea with a separated area in the stand. But that depends on the sump I go with as I am using an eshopps RS-200 and that may not work

Are you using a glass lid? Still sounds odd. Also double checking your temp is a good idea.

Current tank is an acrylic that has 2 cutouts on top so the airflow on the tank is not the best but my locline is set to agitate the surface to help with exchange and evaporation. Just another reason I am excited for the new build. Access into the tank will be much easier. BTW can you pm who built your sump I am debating replacing the eshopps and not sure if I will go off the shelf or custom
