Heater issues

Just sharing my experience... So last year I was sick and tired of heater issues so I bought a jbj heater hoping to have a quality heater and be done with this. A little less than a year later I'm up the creek again. The temperature reading is bouncing all over the place and my tank is too cool. Awaiting a response from jbj but of course stuff has to go wrong around the holiday and their voicemail box is full...

How low is it getting? It would seem like if it stayed above 70 you should be fine until you get a replacement.

It's around 70. I just plugged my other heaters in temporarily. I also plugged the element in directly for a few minutes to bring up the temp

I got tired of the "good" heaters not being good. I've got (2) 250w heaters plugged into my ranco controller. This way I can have them cranked up to 80 and they never go past 78. I trust the thermostat in my ranco. Not anyone in the reef business...

Ebo Jager is the only glass tube heater I trust. They are called Eheim Jager now. If you don't want to spend the extra money for a titanium tube and controller settup, this is he only trustworthy heater on the market. Check the reviews on the websites. Almost nobody has issues with them.

Gotta agree, my wife got me a controller for christmas and I should have bought one years ago... no more temperature swings...

When I made the decision to buy the new heater, I went with the JBJ because it had the titanium element with a separate temperature probe and controller. I thought I made a good investment. JBJ was very quick to respond to my email and we have exchanged a few emails. So far, phone support stinks but email is ok. After submitting my receipt and filling out necessary forms, I an waiting to hear back on if they are going to cover it under warranty

Eheim Jager are my favorite and I also run them through a temp controller. I have bad experience in the past with the temp setting on the heater itself although it was not a Eheim Jager

So much time went by that I forgot to update this. My apologies. Days had gone by without hearing back from JBJ. I sent two emails that went unanswered. I finally called again and was told that they had just sent me a new temperature probe and just never told me. It took a few weeks to resolve the issue, but the probe fixed the problem. I would have to say that had Christmas and new years not been inthat time period, I would have expected it to go a lot more smooth and quickly.
