I have used Ebo Jager for years!! In all my tanks. Never had a problem. Some of my heaters are 10+ years old, maybe 15+.

I have a 16x16x20 tank, which is about 22g plus an 8g sump.
Live rock: tonga branch with some chaeto
Live stock: Not added yet.

I know about my experiance.

whats in your tank is irrelivent, id say 10 watts per gallon max, if your total tank volume is 30 gallons then 1 x300 watt or 2 x150 watt heaters is enough, mind you though if i had a 200 gallon tank 2000 watts of heater would be over the top, so basically there is no general rule i have always kept my tanks mainly freshwater or salt at 10 watts per gallon, i do believe though the larger the tank the more unrealistic this becomes

its easy to heat a tank, its hard to stop it over heating, 10 watts a gallon is a guide i have read many times, i have followed it, and remember when your up to temperature, it will switch off, so size isnt the be all and end all, when your aquarium is up to temperature, the heater should only flick on and off when heat demand is required, i do agree though analogies 300 watts for asmall tank is alot, but hey, it is not on all the time, and anyhow 2 heaters are probably better than 1, except in a small tank, perhaps in very small tanks 1x 150-200 watt heater will do but i still believe 10 watts per gallon is safe, anyhow, what is the difference in price between a150 watt and 300 watt heater and are they that much more massive in size

my problem analogies is that with my tank returns and power heads, and with my central heating system, keeping the tank temperature down is a problem, in england we have very cold frosty winters, the temperature is always on song or above without heat, when on the rare occasion we have hot summer all hell lets loose, last summer my african cychlid tank was so hot i had to float ice cubes in it and stick an aircon unit in my dining room to try to keep it from overheating, obviously though the smaller the aquarium the less phs and so less heat, good luck pal it will be ok, try a 200 watt and see how it goes
