I have the sump out of the water as of last night and the small computer fan blowing the air out from under the tank. This morning, the water temp is 79 degrees This was checked with the in-tank thermometer, my digital thermometer, and the one stuck to the glass. The one that is on the glass actually reads about 1 degree lower than what the water temp is.
As for adding air into the water. I was under the understanding that having powerheads pointed at the surface of the water to "break" the water will help put air in the water. I also have a protein skimmer that puts bubbles in the water as well. Do I need more? The tank has been running for at least a year now. The only time I lost fish was when I had a bad Hair Algae breakout. The snails have always stopped moving as soon as the water temp got over 81. Like I said in my other post, if my clean up crew is not moving or working, what is the purpose of having them?
When I put the snails in the tank for the first time, I put the bag in the water for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, I open the bag and let it sit for another 5 to 10 minutes. All the snails have been in the tank well over 5 to 6 months.
