Heating questions

I have a 75 gallon and 20 l sump. My question is what size heater if any would I need for a reef environment. My temp seems to stay 78-81F. Obviously winter I realize I'd need one. But house is constant night78 day 80-81. Tank is topless for now. I'm not sure if I really need one ATM with no corals and future live rock curing then fish. Corals will be introduced shortly thereafter. Not sure on what types though. And if anyone has specific advice on a reliable automated settable heater I'm game for the suggestions. Thanks in advance😊

Two smaller heaters vs one heater is the consensuses. maybe two 150"s would be good for the winter. As for controling them the number one answer would be an Apex controller, but Ranco makes controllers to regulate the heater in case of a failure.

Thanks for the advice. Also I was thinking heaters in DT or the sump area? Just curious what the experienced crowd recommends.

Most of us put them in the sump to hide them, although from a functionality standpoint there are some advantages to having them in the tank.

A ranco controller is your best friend about 50 bucks on Amazon and youtube has a great video on how to wire it. There are not "reliable" heaters out there and when they do fail, its almost always in the on position.

I like to keep a heater in my tank so I can tell at a glance if its on or not.

Thank you everyone for the helpful advice and recommendations. I see its a matter of my own judgement and liking/preference of where to keep my heaters. Definitely gonna check out the controller options. Thanks again!
